How to boost lymph flow

You’ve learnt about how the lymphatic system works and how it becomes stagnant in part 1 and 2 of this blog series. However, you may now be wondering how you can boost lymph flow and ensure that it is functioning as efficiently as possible.

Here are 6 tips to boost the lymphatic system:

Movement

Moving the body allows lymph fluid to circulate so it is important to exercise and move regularly even if it is just walking or doing some stretches.

The Exerciser Elite is a passive exercise machine that improves the circulation of lymphatic system and is useful for those who can’t exercise or movement regularly as well as those who are suffering with lymphedema. The Lymphoma institute at Finders University found that the lymphatic system can be drained by Chi machine therapy. The Exerciser Elite is the best Chi therapy device currently on the market.

Far Infrared Therapy

Far infrared sauna therapy is one of the best ways to detox the body. It heats the body up and increases the circulation and so that sweat can remove toxins from the body.

Hot and cold showers

It may sound unpleasant but alternating between hot and cold showers can be quite invigorating. The hot water dilates blood vessels while the cold contracts them and this creates a pump action that moves fluid around the body. However, caution is advised if you have a heart condition or are pregnant.

Dry brushing

Dry brushing is a way to manually boost lymph flow by brushing your dry skin with a natural bristle brush before having a bath or shower. Start at your feet and move upwards your heart brushing in small circular motions. Do the same from your hands to your chest area.

Wear loose clothing

Do not wear tight clothing as it may cut off circulation within the lymphatic system which can cause blockages to occur. Wear loose fitting clothing, especially around the breast area, armpits and groin area.

Deep breathing

Practicing regular and slow deep breathing exercises that expand the diaphragm is another way of ensuring that the lymph fluid is pumped and moved around the body.
